Lesley, there are so many choices you can make! I love to look and compare before I choose something. Take a look at these and you will probably find something you like.

It definitely comes down to your style and taste, but we have a simple subway tile in my kitchen and I love it. It was inexpensive (off the shelf at Home Depot), easy to install and easy to clean since it doesn't have a lot of space between the tiles. Here's a link to picture of mine if you want to peek. https://www.exquisitelyunremarkable.com/2013/10/kitchen-tour-before-and-after.html :)
Hi Lesley,
I thought you might like to see exactly how tile is put on the wall. This one is a beautiful glass tile. This will help you plan from start to finish. Wishing you the best.

Hi Lesley. I'm Cindy. We put a new back splash up last year and I love it. It's a peel and stick product so very easy to install (the peel and stick eliminated the adhesive). When you purchase your supplies, buy 10% extra of everything. Excess supplies allows for mistakes. Next step was the grout. Again, easy to use with a trowel. Next day was wiping off excess grout. (And remember: sanded grout is for floors, and unsanded grout is for walls.) I hope this helps you. Good luck.
asheet of stainless plate ? Or simple ceramic tile I woul use large oblong for ease of cleaning there isnโt as much grout
Metal roof flashing is easy and gorgeous. My sister did it and it looks like stainless. Pretty, shiny, and easy to clean.
12 by 12 tiles would work
