I love to repurpose anything old that has lots its appeal, take this dated faded old print. The frame however is thick and modern looking and would be so much better as a chalkboard... follow along how to easily make it over (more detailed blog post linked as well)
The dated old faded print is no longer appealing to hang BUT the well built frame is huge and the gold detailed edges will look perfect with a black chalk board center. It will also become useful "art" displaying inspirational quotes, grocery lists, chore chart, fun drawings etc
To start the makeover; tape off the frame with green painters tape making sure to get your corners square and smooth down over the frame to protect it
Using a small dense foam roller, apply Rustoleum black chalkboard paint, i applied 4 coats letting each one dry at least 4 hours and sponge sanded between each coat and applying the opposite direction with each coat
Next, remove the painters tape and taaadaaa you have a repurposed piece that can be used for many more years in your home.

Look around your home, what can you relove? repurpose? or refresh? With paint you can give old pieces new life.
Suggested materials:
  • Frame   (thrift sale)
  • Rustoleum spray paint   (hardware store)
