Fill with very hot water and powdered dishwasher detergent. Let’s soak for as long as necessary until it wipes right off with a sponge.

Quite by accident, I found out an easy way to clean burnt on food/ sauce in a pan. I have a grill pan I use on my electric stove , frequently I cook chicken wings in it , and no matter what sauce I use on them , it leaves a BIG mess in the pan. I used to soak & scrub several times to get it clean. One day I just did the first soak and scrub, then moved it out of the way , with out soaking it again. Then there was a family emergency and I had to go away for a few days.when I came home I saw the pan on the stove, and thought I might just have to get rid of it , but to my surprise I saw all the burnt on stuff lifting off the pan , so I used my plastic pan scraper and all the burnt stuff just fell off !!!! Then I just rinsed it off & put it away...

If it's on the inside, I like Tonya's suggestion but I usually bring the water to a boil rather than just hot tap water. If it's exterior, I use a scrubber with baking soda or bar keeper's friend unless severe - then SOS pads.
