Hi Sarah, There are several different types of stair lifts, and I'm sure each one is slightly different. This detailed installation video is for an "Acorn" stair lift: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2Lh2CcDiq8
If you have a particular brand in mind, let me know and I'll see what I can find for you.
Good luck!
Hello Sarah, Not sure if you can buy second hand Stair Lifts, as they are usually built for the staircase requirements. Try asking the manufacturers if you can buy reconditioned or re-claimed or refurbished Lift that would be suitable for your situation. Best of luck!
Typically installation must be done by a professional as otherwise it opens them up to liability if someone gets hurt. In some places it is against the law to self install. Unless you can obtain a second hand unit or refurbished one privately, it will be a hurdle. There are agencies to help you out, speak to your doctor or social worker to help you get the money you need to have this installed. Sometimes all you need is a "prescription" from your doctor in order to get it covered by insurance. Also contact your local office of Department on Aging and see how they can help too.
Naomi has the right ideas. I don't know anyone who paid full price for one, they all got assustance.
I have one I am trying to get rid of, but nobody will take it away! It's all yours if you take it! 😀
