How and when do I start to use green manure in Arizona? Does anyone in Arizona use green manure? I read some articles about it, but the cuttings used in the articles, I do not have grown.

Green manure is a cover crop that is turned under before it matures. Green manure is used agriculturally in Arizona. Do a search for "green manure plants for Arizona" to find a list of those best suited to your area. Green manure plants are most often started in fall and tilled under in spring.

Most western states' soil has low bacterial activity due to lower rainfall. Green manure is growing plant material that is tilled under and allowed to rot in place, but that requires soil bacteria and time. In fact, some legumes must be inoculated with specific bacteria in order to grow. If you want immediate changes to your soil you would be better off adding compost and/or composted manure.

I use regular manure in AZ. We skim our grass, rake manure lightly on top and then throw down our seed. Water right after. I’m not sure if you wanted this for grass, but if you do, this is the process for winter grass.
