How do i prepare my outside plants to come inside?

I have a couple of planters that I would like to bring inside for the winter. What steps can I take to try and keep the number of bugs that might come in with the plant to a minimum?

Hose off the plant leaves, both from above and below. Laying the pot on its side can make it easier to spray up under the leaves. Allow the plant and pot to dry, then bring them inside.

Each year when I bring my plants in I always get a lizard to two, so I don't like to use poison. However, you have to be vigilant for insect pests. Once you've brought your plants inside there are no beneficial insects to protect them and the lizards aren't very good against the smaller pests like aphids and spider mites.

I always like to consult the experts first. How about making a trip to your local garden center and ask what they recommend?

I put my plants in a trash bag with a shell no pest strip for 24 hours. Always works for me. Good luck

Remove plants from planter; shake off loose soil, soak in bucket with soapy water, repot plants with new potting soil.
