Hi everyone! I have a new post for you guys, but this one is going to be talking about the one thing we dread the most. Cleaning, more specifically, organizing our home. Listening to Marie Kondo’s “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing”. Inspired me to craft this neat and cute idea from using a basic water bottle, a zipper, and some washi tape.______________________________________________________________________________________________"We have a special treat for Hometalkers today! This is definitely not my original idea. We were at a friends house - and saw it and had to create it at our place. I figured it was a good one to share for the summer.By adding a few eye hooks, a little nylon rope and a weight, your door will close "automatically."
Hi, I'm Liz from Simple Decorating Tips!I’m not an expert gardener, I, like how my dad used to describe himself, am a ‘jack of all trades, and a king of none’… I know a lot, well… a little about a lot of things. But here are some things I know about the hydrangea tree we inherited when we moved into a 100 year old house…
Tis the season to start thinking about Christmas decor and my mind has been racing with ideas. On a trip to my Dollar Store I spotted three different size pails and I started to pile them on top of each other in the middle of the aisle. Yes I got a few funny glances, but I was too excited to care.I struggled for a brief moment with what I was going to use for the base then it hit me. A lamp base of course. I knew this was going to make a great tree!
Last month my in-laws, aka Mom & Dad, were handed down a beautiful curio cabinet. In order to put that gorgeous piece in their dining room, they needed to retire their faux money tree. Lucky for me, before taking anything to Put & Take, they usually ask me if I could find any use for their retired items. Seeing that with a little modification it could turn into a cool Halloween prop, I gladly took it, and that is how the story of "The Halloween Tree" started...
Who is excited for the release of the new Beauty and the Beast?? I AM!!! I can’t wait to see this movie, and I adore Emma Watson, so it’s going to be fabulous. To celebrate the upcoming release I decided to make my Beauty and the Beast Inspired Rose Cloche.
I love thrift store finds for a few reasons, not only do you get an item at a reduced cost from the original purchase price but you get the opportunity to be creative. You'll often find items that appeal to you in shape and size for your home yet the item might not match your decor. Such as was the case with these two odd finds, a blue tray and a pottery jug.
I really have a thing for old vanities, especially with big round mirrors. They can be expensive so I am always on the lookout for fixer uppers. I came across this little gem at a garage sale for $10! I could not contain my excitement and purchased without really looking it over (it was $10!)! I got it home and was really happy that the drawers were in excellent condition but found out that the mirror was broke on the right side, but everything else was pretty solid. No rebuilding needed. I just needed to figure out how to make the mirror work.
How to make a HIMMELI?First of all, what is a Himmeli? Well, the Himmeli are distinctive ornaments of Nordic decoration and are characterized by their geometric structure. They are pendants coming from typical Sweden and Finland that were originally made with very thin pieces of cane and that had different geometric shapes.Himmeli have become key pieces to decorate and there are many ways to create them. In this tutorial I will show how to make them using straws. You will need 4 straws in its original size and 8 pieces of 4 inches.Note: If at any time the wire is not enough to continue, simply add another piece , attach the two ends and continue
Organizing my freezer was a task that I had been avoiding for way too long. After each grocery shop, I would gather up my frozen products, shove them in, and slam the door as quickly as possible. As you can imagine, every time I opened the door to use something, I spent time cleaning up the avalanche of frozen french fries and kiddies ice cream pops that ensued.
As we all know, decor trends are always changing. It's hard to keep up. Are you itching for a new holiday style, but worried about budget? You can create a whole new look for your Christmas tree using Dollar Store items for A LOT less than you would expect!
