How can we rid our home & cats of fleas ... ?

We have 2 wonderful cats, Visa and Oreo. For two months now, we have tried many vet suggested flea remedies for them and our home. We have also tried a variety of homemade remedies. However, the fleas just keep attacking both our beloved fur-luvs and our home and furnishings. We need a solution to cleanse our home but we live on a very small income (Ontario Disability) and cannot afford an expensive remedy. How can my son and I finally put an end to this ‘battle’ and rid our home & our cats, of these horrible pests, preferably using an affordable home remedy that actually works?

You can treat your pet with diatomaceous earth. It's a very fine silica sand powder, harmless for your pets but the pests hate it. It's very sharp and injures them. It also works as a de-wormer too. (Can be used to deter cockroaches and ants. Leave a trail at door entrances.) Vacuum daily and shake out your vacuum bag (outside into a garbage bag) to get rid of those sucked up. You DON'T want them in your house. This may take a month.

Give your cats a bath. Vacuum every day for at least a month and empty the canister or replace the bag after every session or you will just be spreading them around.
Spray the base of your house and perimeter of your yard with vinegar. Must be reapplied after every rain event.
