Cinder block flower bed?

If I use cinder blocks with perrinals. Should I tar the inside the holes or should I use the black weed paper to insulate the holes for the flowers roots? I live in Michigan & in a Mobil home.

I use a good potting mixture. Keep the plants watered and they will blooms. I did not use any other liner.

You shouldn’t need to seal the holes, just fill with soil. But choose your plants carefully. Since their roots will not be in the soil, but higher up- they are more sensitive to frost. You’ll want to choose things a zone lower than yours. :)

Hi Lucy. I'm Cindy. Normally I would tell you that you don't need weed fabric. But because you're planting flowers in cinder blocks, I am telling you to consider using weed fabric. Because, if you ever want to move the cinder blocks, you may lose your soil. This way the weed fabric will help hold the soil in. Best of luck to you.

Hello, I did not use anything just put in a good soil and planted. If you wanted to use something I would go with the liner.
