Nut grass or nut sage is a real pain for us folks with xeriscaped yards. I kill mine with vinegar BEFORE the grass has matured and produced seeds. Know that wind, birds and other critters will invariably bring the seeds back to the xeriscaped area. The trick is to pull AS SOON AS you see anything growing. You may have to use the vinegar trick often until the situation is under control. Just spray or pour enough to soak the grass. The acidic nature of the vinegar should be enough to kill it - but depending on the weather, you may have to keep after it until it dies completely.

To make the vinegar work even better add table salt to it. Recipe = 1 gallon of white vinegar and 1 cup of table salt. Spray over the area as soon as you see any green growth. Repeat as often as needed. Inexpensive fix.

The vinegar and salt solution is a really get grass killer. It goes into the ground and kills the grass roots, but it also prevents anything else to grow there.

acid in vinegar kills plants with repeated sprays on some tough plants. vinegar will quickly loose it's acidity when in contact with dirt or limestone etc. the it is safe to

plant a nice ground cover. maybe consider a green indoor/outdoor plastic rug if

it would be appropriate for your use.
