Hi Nancy, here's an article with several ideas to try. If one of these works for you (and you're willing to do it) please let us know.

Mothballs are very dangerous. ONE can kill a dog. They are not meant to be thrown around like people think. They were made for moths. The new ones are round and shiny and look like candy to a child. THEY ARE POISON and should be used with great caution. Place deep in a hole as a deterrent where no child or pet can get to them if used. And if as the above states they are not working why pass on dangerous information to others?

When one leaves, another seems to show up. I keep mine happy by feeding them and let them pick up the bird food under the feeders. I use stuff like axel grease on the shepherds hooks my feeders hang on and they can't get at the feeder at all. If they are digging, I put a mouse trap bailed with peanut butter and it never catches them, but the snap scares the bejesus out of them and they stay away from that area for a while. I also use cayenne pepper powder around my plants and grate Irish Spring hand soap over the powder to keep the chipmunks, squirrels and rabbits away from the spring bulbs as they start coming up and until they are spent, to keep them from eating them.
