When one leaves, another seems to show up. I keep mine happy by feeding them and let them pick up the bird food under the feeders. I use stuff like axel grease on the shepherds hooks my feeders hang on and they can't get at the feeder at all. If they are digging, I put a mouse trap bailed with peanut butter and it never catches them, but the snap scares the bejesus out of them and they stay away from that area for a while. I also use cayenne pepper powder around my plants and grate Irish Spring hand soap over the powder to keep the chipmunks, squirrels and rabbits away from the spring bulbs as they start coming up and until they are spent, to keep them from eating them.
