If you don't want to go to the trouble and expense of cutting a hole in the ceiling and changing it permanently, just by one of those large screw hooks for hanging plants, etc. and attach the rod to a chain attached to the ceiling hook.

This happened to me when moving into a new house,if only I could move the light a few inches with minimum ceiling work. I put the table in at an angle and centered under the light. It actually looks great and If it’s only a few inches I would move the table first and see if I can live with it’s new placement before putting a new hole in the ceiling and having another to patch. You might be able to find a new collar ( the plate that goes against the ceiling where the rod goes in that is big enough in diameter to hide the previous hole. Good luck

consider a strong rod of matching colour. put a weight on one end and your light's supporting wire/chain on the other end. slide either or both to obtain a balance.
