Hi Rose, I've found a plunger to be the best course of action when it comes to a stopped up toilet.
Plunger is the best. Some people have used Dawn dish liquid. If a plunger doesn;t work you may need a bathroom auger to clear the drain. Most drain cleaners have warnings on them not use in toilets The gases can build up and cause the toilet to blow up.
Get a good plunger. But don't wear nice clothes when you use it.
I supposed you already tried a plunger? Need to use what your system Is? Septic or sewer, what do others in your area do? I've never used anythi g other than the plunger
Heat some Liquid Dawn and pour it down the toilet. Let it sit for at least a few hours. Overnight is better. In the morning pour some white vinegar down the toilet and flush.
