How do I get the right color grey paint for my bathroom?

I have stained grey cabinets with marveled granite (whites & greys). I’m trying to get a light grey paint for the walls. I’ve tried 3 samples, they keep looking blue, light blue or green when up. Anyone have a suggestion for how to make it look grey & match?

This could well be a problem of the color changing when it is laid next to your existing gray. I expect your cabinets are a bluish-gray. I suggest you go for a darker gray to make the light gray pop and look bright and interesting. Go to the paint sample rack and look first at black, then move along the grays keeping away from the blue-grays and the red-grays which are warm grays. Good luck.

That’s a good thought. I don’t want the walls too dark but could try darker. Thank you

Maybe the light in the bathroom does not lend itself to grey walls and grey cabinets? What if you do a test wall in white, and if you want to add more grey, do so with towels maybe.

I was thinking this might be the case & to find a white that coordinates well with greys. Another good thought. Thank you.

Hello, if you have any of the stain you could take a sample in with you so they can match it. If the cabinets came that way, take a picture of them and take it with you to the paint store so they can try to match it. Grey is one of those colors that may have a brown, blue, green or red tone in it.

Why not try a contrasting color for the walls so it isn't all grey? That would probably be easier to find.

Good thought as well. I n Ed to b more creative. Thanks for your thoughts

  • My favorite gray is Gray Owl by Benjamin Moore, but I get the color from Lowe's. I'm really funny about gray and it can't be too blue.
