Cut the ivy to the shortest level to the ground. Cover with landscape cloth or black plastic... put some weight on the plastic. Use tent pegs or sticks on the edge. What plant can not get sun or water... it will die. I have even used this method with bushes.
Besides vinegar & salt, just keep on pulling it out over & over. Stay on top of it. It make take a few years. Mice, snakes like to hide & keep cool in it & then come into your house. 😉
Salt will keep other plants from growing for much longer than a killer like "Round up." You can cut back and use small brush to put killer on each cut piece; if you are squeamish about spraying whole area. All methods will take several years. WHY DON'T THE PLANTS WE WANT GROW SO WELL!
Pull as much of the ivy out as possible, then lay down multiple layers of newspapers, plastic shopping bags, black garbage bags, etc. Place rocks or bricks on top so the covering can't blow away. Keep there as long as feasible and the ivy will die off due to lack of sunlight.

Douce it with vinegar till its dead. If this method kills weeds, it'll kill ivy
