If you are asking what wood to use for building a desk red oak (or quarter sawn white oak if it’s in the budget) would be a great choice. It machines easily and looks great when it’s top coated.
Jackeline - perhaps you mean a deck? Typo, maybe. Ask at your lumber store for suitable wood for a deck. But do make sure it is treated wood so that it will last and not warp.
If have a better budget you can use cedar or redwood. Also look a composite decking, last longer than treated.
