You can make plastic yarn from shopping bags. Cut the top handles off, then cut 1 inch slices that will make a 1 inch ring when you hold it. Put an end of one ring inside the ring of another and pass the rest of the ring through to tie them together. Here is the video I used to learn how to do it myself.
