Hi there. Here's what I do and I have a ton of silver!

Line the sink with heavy duty aluminum foil - shiny side up.

Fill with really hot water. I bring mine almost to boiling on the stove.

Add 2 cups salt; stir to dissolve.

Submerge the silver in the salted water.

Let sit for at least 15 minutes.

Large pieces will need to be submerged a section at a time.

Remove and rinse. Use silver polish for a final cleaning. Rinse and buff. The polish will retard the tarnish longer. Good luck!
