You need to do research on the type of plant or plants that you have. Sometimes it's not enough light or not enough water. Sometimes too much water etc. I've learned everything about my houseplants on line. People now think I have a green thumb. lol The info is out there. You just have to try different stuff. Sometimes my plants have really responded well to a bigger pot and new soil. Good Luck!

Alway use a clay pot you may be watering to much but you can trim the brown from the leaves and can't even tell it happened.

I find that if the leaves touch the wall or something, the tips will get brown and I just turn the pot and trim the brown off.

When houseplants get brown tips on their leaves, it's generally an indication of poor watering habits. The best way to water a houseplant is to thoroughly flush it until water runs freely out the drainage holes. Shallow watering can cause brown tips on the leaves. I never use clay pots especially outside in the sun. In my opinion they suck the water out of the soil and you have to water more often. The type of pot you use indoors should have nothing to do with watering too much or too little.

Try to water on a regular schedule, keeping them not too dry and not too wet. It is not the pot nor touching the wall.

You need to let the soil dry completely, then water until the water stops running out of the bottom hole...then let the soil dry completely again and then water immediately, repeating the process. Too wet = rot and mildew. Too dry = brown leaves.

And also a lot of certain plants will turn brown edges on leaves from using tap water from home, Fill a jug let it set out overnight or a few days so that certain chemicals evaporate from it . I use rain water and mist my plants with distilled water which I did notice changes.

My grandmother taught me that brown tips mean not enough water, yellow tips mean too much water.
