I do not know how much it actually saves but I do know that running ceiling fans helps to circulate cool air in the summer and warm air in the winter. Years ago when I lived in a small trailer I used a small fan on a high shelf all winter and it made a huge difference.
We attached a powerful fan to the ceiling of our patio. It blows warm air inside from the wood stove. Since we only use wood heat I can't give you an amount saved but this heats our entire house.
