I'm not too sure what you are asking, but here goes. When sowing new grass seed, do you want to know should one use some peat moss with it? Some hints says yes, as the peat moss will keep the seeds moist allowing it to take root especially if the area is somewhat bare. The peat moss will also show where you had laid down the seed. There are pre-mixed seed with a coloured peat-like additive (for the same reason so you know where the seed are.)

You don't have to. I would call the county agricultural agent for free advice. They may also provide free soil testing.
