You might want to think about a Nest type thermostat. Really easy to use. You can set and forget or make adjustments with your smartphone. Our Utility company offerd a program this past summer where we let them take control of the system during really hot days. We would get a $5 or $10 credit applied yo our utility bill. Check with your Utility vompany. Lots of times they offer discount products like thermostats to help customers out.

  • What type of thermostat do you have? Is it programmable? If not consider replacing yours with a newer model. Not expensive, around $50. I have a low tech household, but with a programmable thermostat. I have it set at 78 or 80 in the summer and in the winter at 70 during the day and 68 at night. I am in Zone 9 and it does not get that cold here other than a few random days here and there. Plus it can save your utility costs once you find temperatures comfortable for your household.

Buy a programmable thermostat. There are so many different options now with many prices ranges. You can even control some of them from an app on your phone.
