The moles are likely eating insects- grubs in your soil.

I would love to find a solution too! I’ve tried to Tomcat trap and the Sweeney worms and they both didn’t work for my troubles. We need to advance to other elimination methods.

In master gardener classes the expert lecturer commented there are four possible solutions, get a cat, get rid of the grubs, get a trap or live with them.

Sorry to say I can say I've have not found my answer to eradicate these pests.

Heres a link with some information and suggestions.

Good luck in your search for a solution!

Moles like grubworms too. You HAVE to get rid of their food source. I used a granule from Sevin and it worked great. I don't have a spreader so I just scattered it like feeding chickens in the old West. Need to redo about every 4 months.

my grandpa used to set a mole trap at one burrow after digging the mount to find the opening and at another burrow he would dig again to find the opening and put the garden hose in and flood them out in to the trap at the first burrow...i only remember having them in the yard 3 times growing up

  • They are mostly after earthworms. Place castor bean seeds in their trails. They will sprout and deter them. Don't use poison! You will cause more problems!!

This is what has worked for me. I have two large dogs. When ever there is a mole tunnel in my yard I open it up and drop dog waste into the tunnel and then cover it back up. Sometimes I do this at the end of the tunnel and in another part. It has significantly deceased the amount of mole activity in the yard and often stops it completely. It seems to work and is a simple, cheap and natural method!
