Removing paint from very old door hinges?

I read an article on your site which showed how to remove very old paint from door hinges using a crockpot. I’d like to share that great idea with my sister. Johnna64@comcast.net.

Get a used crock pot from a thrift store one you won't use again for food put the hinges in add water and cook. Pull one out occasionally to check the paint. You can use a small brush old tooth brush etc to see if the paint comes easily off
I put some old hardware in a crockpot with vinegar to clean.
