How can I best heat my old house which has no central heating?

I live in an old small house with very few electric outlets - all in full use - just got a big winter freeze (surprise) here in usually warm Big Bend country in Far West Texas- I have one bedroom and am using my one space heater in there, with door shut - my new adopted doggie loves to roam around house - hates seeing bedroom closed -not sure if I buy another space heater will I blow a fuse or something (no wall heaters- just AC) - or just unplug one of the few 3 prong outlets to plug in another space heater? right now I have my stove turned on to Bake and with stove door partly open. And my trusty hot water bottle in bed! Thoughts?

I have a similar issue. We got some really good surge protectors with multiple outlets to plug things into. Just be really care with the space heater and check the outlets often to make sure they aren't getting hot. We plug the heater in its own outlet/surge protector with nothing else plugged in that outlet.

do you have natural gas, or propane available? If so, the Rinaii wall heaters are wonderful, we just installed the largest one they make to augment/replace a wood stove.
My suggestions for taking the edge off the chilly rooms is carpet on the floor even if it's a rug or two- the floors are the worst! Also heavy curtains over windows and if you have areas you can block off do it- even if you need to tack up curtains across unused cold areas. Make your living space as closed off from other spaces as possible and use a space heater on wheels to go to other spaces such as bathroom for shower time, to the bedroom at night. Be careful using the oven if it's gas- it's not very safe to use as a heat source although just baking some bread or a cake is a great dual purpose. Good luck, I remember the cold house we had before.Brrrr
