Mix some peppermint essential oil with some water in a spray bottle. Every time you see them, shake the bottle to mix and spray liberally with the solution. Wipe up any dead or dying ants and spray again to keep the scent there. It takes a few times, but since ants (and flies) hate mint, it eventually works.

Also, keep things clean and dry. Ants are often seeking water.

I recently had an infestation of sugar ants in the kitchen near the sink, used the mint spray every day for about a week, including spraying enough to have it drip down behind the cabinets. No more ants.

As a bonus, your kitchen or whatever area will smell minty fresh - often EXTREMELY minty fresh.

I use non-toxic Ant Insect Repellents inside, Victors (mint), EcoLogic or EcoSmart (lemongrass oil) are found in hardward or home stores.

  • In addition to the above, scatter fresh bay leaves in all your kitchen cupboards and pantry. Sold in most grocery stores these days in the fresh herb section.
