How do you replace the tub surround?
After too many years of use and abuse I had to take off the tile around the tub. I've replaced the sheet rock. What's next?

Did you use cement board or sheetrock? There is a difference. Here are some sites go help you out..

If you did not use the proper backing, remove and replace before tiling.

Hi. Now's the decision to retile, or use a "for wet areas" paneling or solid surface. Corian makes a solid surface for DIY'ers that's solid sheets. Then there's wet area bead board which can be a nice look. If the drywall you replaced was not greenboard, I'd suggest you go with a solid surface product.
Hi Janice. I'm assuming the tub is out of the space. Normally cement board is applied instead of the drywall around the tub. Use it floor to ceiling. It is thick so the tub will stick out further if applied to the drywall. Using hardiboard the same principal applies, but it will not cause the tub to stick out as far.
