We've had new wooden fencing put in. Between new fence and greenhouse, there's some trees coming up. We don't want these and would like a safe way to kill them off. Help

  • Just cut them off at ground level every time they pop up. Eventually they will stop. Or cut off and apply agricultural strength vinegar. Will need to be reapplied after every rain event.

    • There are all sorts of different vinegar types. Vinegar is not just for cooking and salads. Typically 3% - 5% acidity.

Cleaning vinegar is generally 6% acidity.

Agricultural and industrial vinegar are 10% - 30% and up.

Sold at any home improvement center, hardware store or nursery.

Regular white vinegar will work, you will just need to use more of it. But at $2 a gallon, be generous. Plus environmentally safe!

I have pets - and kids that visit often. No chemicals unless no other option is available.

There is actually a lot of products at your local nursery or big box plant dept. Take a piece of the plant with you for identification purposes and the nursery or dept mgr will help you select the spray that you need. They will be happy to help you!!

Hello, cut the trees down to a stump. Drill some holes into it and use a syringe to squirt weed killer full strength into the stumps. That should kill them off without affecting anything else.
