How to repair a chip on a wooden knob

I just finished a old dresser that I love but one of the knobs has a chip off at the bottom. I’ve looked everywhere for the same knob no luck. Can I use bondo or how can I fix the chip.

I suppose you could glue it on, but I think it wouldn't hold with all the use a knob gets. Have you tried Hobby Lobby? They have an enormous array of knobs, some really great. Also, I go to Amazon for almost everything. Good luck.

Any kind of repair would not last. Bondo would not work. You can try two part epoxy putty. Do a basic form let it harden then sand the finish shape. Don't know if it will hold. You can try looking through these and find something close. Good luck.

Hi Deb. You can cut out the outter part, sand it and all the knobs will be the same. Aloha!

Consider replacing the knobs, or at least the ones that correspond to this one--or switch this one to an inconspicuous spot on the dresser.

Get a wood turner to turn an identical one.

Not sure if you have the missing piece. If you do use Hard as Nails glue to reattach it. If not use a paint stir stick to replace the missing piece. Lay the knob face down on the stir stick and draw out your missing piece and carefully cut it out using an exacto knife. If it's not thick enough, cut out two and glue together. Use Hard as Nails glue to attach it to the knob, holding in place tightly for a few minutes. Don't worry about sanding out the grooves in your knob. The glue will hold stronger with them there. Don't worry about glue that squeezes out between the connection because it can be sanded down. Let it completely dry for a day or more then gently sand it down until smooth. Good luck!

Just replace all the knobs. Knobs are inexpensive enough, especially online in places like Target and Walmart. The other idea is to make it a statement piece and put two really special knobs on the top drawer. Then you have two spare knobs.

I agree with Ellen. Like my kitchen cupboards and drawers, I have mismatched dishes and flatware. I like to do things that have their own unique touch. Why not go to a Restore Store (Habitat for Humanity has them) and find a pull for each drawer.
