How to trim Butterfly Bushes?
How much should I trim butterfly bushes for this fall? Some of the wood looks dead and only some suckers grew this year. Does that mean the main root system is dead? should I just dig it out and start over? thanks, Georgia

You should be able to trim back the dead places. The bush may look kind of funky for a year until the new growth comes in, but I would think unless the majority of the bush is dead, it should be trimmable.
