What are you looking to do with your mailbox?

    What about a mailbox ?

I was a rural mail carrier for 30 years..unfortunately most people don't bother asking their mail carrier what the best type of mailbox would be , for the homeowners needs. A lot of people make the mistake of buying fancy , expensive mailboxes, that don't function well.

Tips: if you are looking to make one, make sure it is located at the proper spot , the right height, and easy for your mail carrier to use. There are regulations that need to be met on placement & height.

If you are looking to buy a mailbox , I recommend a mailbox made by Rubbermaid, it's about $35. It is plastic , shaped like a box with a rounded top.

If your sun room uses slats and is open to the air you can make it very comfortable in winter. Use the large plastic painter drop covers and tack them all around. You still have your view, and will get very warm in the day time! This works as I have had the experience of being outdoor in light breezes of around freezing temps. I had to watch the operation and mover around. By wrapping a piece of plastic around me I was toasty warm! Try it in the winter and you will see quickly how it works! Good luck.
