What type of adhesive?

If your walls are painted with a satin or eggshell finish paint, then size your walls first. If you have flat paint PLEASE paint over it with a satin or eggshell finish for easier wallpaper removal later. The sizing will help the wallpaper adhere better and make it easier to remove later. Once the sizing is dry put your wallpaper glue on the wallpaper--not the wall. Use a sponge or a small paint roller to apply it to the back of your wallpaper. That does help some with the drips.

The wallpaper paste goes on the back of the wallpaper not on the wall. Most manufacturers have recommendations.

Size the wall first. That will allow you to remove the paper later. You can get wall paper paste that is not a liquid , but more like a gel. Paste both wall and the back of the paper so you can position easily. It may be harder to squeegee the paper because it is embossed, so don,t use too much paste. You can use a wall paper brush to smooth the paper.

NJ...in response to your second question. Please paint your wall first with a satin or eggshell paint before you put up any wallpaper. If you do not do this you will have a very very difficult time ever removing the wallpaper from a sheet rock wall that only has primer on it and more than likely you would end up damaging your sheet rock. If you ever want wallpaper to come off easily always make sure you have painted with a satin,eggshell, or semi gloss paint first---then using wall size before you install any kind of wallpaper. This will ensure a much easier wallpaper removal. Trust me! I have learned from previous experiences! Prep your walls the right way before wallpapering and removing wallpaper later should not be that much of an issue!!

Yes, I would size the wall, rather than paint.
