What colours do I paint my beachfront condo for a relaxing feel.

I have a beachfront condo and I am wondering what colour to paint the walls and ceilings. The common area, LR,DR,KIT.,is open concept. I am installing darker brown luxury viny flooring. The kitchen cabinets are natural laminate colour. Help.

Thankyou, Susan

A very creamy light yellow would be beautiful with the dark floors and then you could accent with beachy colored pillows and decor

Go with white and Aqua with yellows

    Hi Susan,

I like soft blues for relaxing. You can also mix that with a sandy beige color if you want more that one color. Years ago, I used those colors in one of my children's room, along with a splash of a rust color for accent. It made the north facing room with only 1 window brighter but also very relaxing. I hope this helps you. Wishing you the best.

    Hi Susan,

Your color choice will mostly depend on what color makes you feel relaxed. I know certain shades of medium to light blue make me feel relaxed, but a very light green is the color my husband likes for his office.

If lighter or pastels aren't your cup of tea, then warm colors like terra cotta, olive green, avocado green, navy blue, burgundy and golden yellows are nice and mellow. And, in my opinion, you just can't go wrong with either teal or turquoise, depending on your preference of more green or blue.

I really wouldn't make the decision without taping paint samples to the walls for a few days so you can observe the colors with the different amounts of light during both day and night. Once you narrow it down to about three colors or shades, you can buy rather inexpensive small containers of the colors and then paint a small swatch of it on a wall.

Ceilings? For me, white is my fav, but there are hundreds of different shades of white. You'll want to choose one that works the best with the color of your walls. Often the paint samples have suggestions on which colors work in tandem with the color you choose, and most paint manufacturers have apps on their website to help in choosing a color. The apps are a lot of fun and can be very helpful!
