Service a boiler?

It seems awfully expensive to hire someone to service my boiler, when it seems like a simple process. Can anyone tell me the benefit to hiring a professional as opposed to doing it myself? And how do I do it myself??

If it's still under warranty, you might void it by doing the work yourself, meaning all future needed repairs will be on your dime..(Lots of them) I don't have the answer for HOW to do it, I just know that it's best left to the pro's to keep your warranty intact.

I don't know much about boilers, but exploding hot water scares me.

THEY KNOW WHAT TYER ARE DOING .NOT AS SIMPLE AS IT LOOKS

  • Number one reason to use a pro - if something goes wrong and there is damage to your home, the service company's insurance and your home owners insurance kicks in to pay for repair.

If you service yourself and something goes wrong, you are out of luck. Your insurance carrier can deny the claim due to lack of homeowner maintenance. I have seen it happen more than you might know. Read your homeowners policy. Unless you are absolutely positive you know exactly what you are doing, pay the fee annually or semi annually.
