How to kill outside red carpenter ants mounds?

I poke a hole in the middle of the mound and pour boiling water down the hole and across the top of the mound. It's the only way I have found to get rid of ants after trying every spray, store bought and diy, and granules that I can get my hands on.

Melody....Do you have a Farmers Co-op near you? We purchased Tempo LC Ultra but you can possibly find online. It is expensive but well worth the price and is concentrated so you add water and get more than the small bottle.
