Tool storage?

I'm collecting a large number of tools from various projects. I have an area (small attached room about 5 feet by 8 feet) attached to the house to store them. I'm finding I spend a long time looking for all the tools I need for a new project.

Currently I have them in bins: plumbing, electric, tile/grout, painting, etc, but even then it is a hassle. any tips / tricks would be helpful.

Hi Chris, I'd suggest putting up Pegboard on the walls and hanging the tools on their own special pegs. That way you'll know exactly where to put them after each use and they'll be easy to find. I did this on all the walls of my garden shed and I never have to spend any time searching for any garden tools. I also did this on one wall of my craft/sewing room and now I know exactly where each of my quilting tools, scissors, etc. are without having to waste my fun time. Good Luck!!

A tool chest is an expensive alternative. How about hanging most on a peg board with bins below? Some things like cords and caulk tubes do need to be corralled in bins. (I put my paint brushes in coffee cans - brush side up.) AND label everything! I know you do put everything back in its place immediately after using.
