How do I change my old yellow brick fireplace ? Can I paint it? Can I attach marble over the brick? Can I paint the tile on the floor. The fireplace is now gas. Thank you

Yes, it can be painted and it turns out beautiful. I saw one painted white and the grout painted gray and it was stunning. Have fun!

Hi Linda. My name is Cindy. They make paint for high heat temps., especially for fireplaces. It looks like the fireplace is very clean. But go ahead and wash it with a soft brush. I love your idea about installing marble over the brick. That would sure look pretty and more current. Another idea for the floor tile would be to use a stencil and paint. Have fun with it and let your imagination soar. Hope this helps. Good luck from Cindy.

    Here is what I did

Painted the slate tile black and left the accent piece

I painted mine white and it really brightens up the room. But I don't actually use the fireplace.

My husband and I flip houses, he does all of the constructing, but I do all of the painting! It's amazing what a little paint will do!

Tried several times to put before and after pics of the fireplace I did, but for some reason can't seem to figure it out! Sorry!

I would white wash the bricks. Paint the floor tiles and black inserts (?) on the fireplace the same color. You can then stencil the painted tile and seal with polyurethane. I would also add a reclaimed wood mantel. A pretty fireplace screen will hide the interior when not in use.
