How can I make my barrel planter special for winter?

Live in lowcountry South Carolina and would like to know what plants would be good for barrel planter which gets morning sun. Thanks!

Mums, poinsettia, sweet potato vine or creeping Jenny. Mabey. Succulents, hens n chicks, colorful cactus.
