How to insulate old windows?
I live in a home with old windows, and during the cold season, I can feel the cold from window frames. Central heating system, feels great, but I feel this is wasting energy.

The glass is probably original and I can't afford new windows. I plan on cleaning them and then caulking but I wish I had a 2nd pane to keep out the cold air.

You want to see if you have insulation between the frame and the roughin. You must remove the trim molding on the inside and either instal fiberglass insulation or spray foam insulation.
You are absolutely correct. Doors and windows are the number one source of heat and a.c. loss. Test and then caulk your windows and doors. Here is how.

This is a temporary fix. The film is available for interior or exterior installation. It is perfectly clear. There are several brands that work. Check reviews.

Im offering this option because doing all your windows the right way takes time, and this seems to be a crazy-weather year. Yes, you want to get all the windows done permanently and right, but in the meantime.......
You can have storm windows made that go on the outside. They’re made to be put on and taken off seasonally.
