Need to ask your local home store for the R rating suggested for your area.

Between R-38 and R-49 in your attic. I prefer insulation bats over blow-in for attics.

I have blown in insulation in my attic. It's about 6' above the joists. Gives me an R-38. Anything above that is overkill and won't make a difference. Unfaced fiberglass batts can be used. Fill the joist space then lay another layer on top perpendicular to the joists. Will give you about R-38. Blown in insulation can be installed without going into the attic. Fiberglass needs to be laid by hand inside the attic. Both will work.

Blown in insulation is very messy if you need to access attic to maintain any equipment such as heat pump.

Not messy. I laid down four 2'X4' sheets of plywood over the blown in insulation for access. I can move them around easily to where I need to go in the attic. Also store bins of different items being aware of weight.
