When do we trim or cut back hydrangeas, or do we leave them alone?

depends on the type of hydrangea- some bloom on "old" wood so if you prune, they won't bloom the next year. I had some Nikko blue like that, so I waited until Spring and then pruned only the obviously dead stuff out.
