Do I cut back to the closest cluster of leaves? Or just hack them off to the ground?

I NE FL my experience with older growth pentas is that they rebound well after a cut back. Not quite to the ground but not concerned about cutting back to leaf cluster or nodes either. I haven't had new pentas to experiment on. I hope the articles provided help!
