Light sanding, that's the beauty of chalk paint. No prep needed.

Hi Marlene, I am not quite sure about the make up mirror, I would have to see a picture of it. But the dresser itself needs barely any prep. With chalk paint all you need to do is wash it down with soapy water, or if it is very dirty or has finger prints on it, you could use Awesome spray $1 at Dollar Tree. Then just paint. You do know that you can distress chalk paint, and also they have a dark wax which enables you to 'age' the furniture piece in the crevices. Very nice. Just go to You Tube and watch some of the videos.

Farmhouse Paint is an awesome chalk paint, which requires NO prep other than making sure the piece is clean. I love this product! In the past, I have been disappointed when my hour or so of 'craft time' was spent sanding, etc. and ran out of time before my piece was painted. BUT NO MORE! Quickly wipe it off and start painting. Best wishes !

Fix any places that might need it. Clean with either TSP or denatured alcohol.
