Are they plywood or paneling? Paint is the easiest and budget friendly. Prime with Kiz primer then paint your color.

William, thanks for your reply. Sorry, it is paneling. There's no heat in this area. Combo, screens and crank in windows on three of the four walls. Tile floors. It was this way when we bought the house, never been happy with it. Thank you!

Barn or plate wood is popular now. Being a sun room I assume it’s a screened in room. You can apply a wain cot to your first hoziontal board above the floor plate, using the wood you’ve collected or use carpet remnants inplace of the wood. 🤠 3D

Thank you for your reply. You are correct, it is combo screened & crank in windows on three of the four walls. A little confused, carpet remnants on walls? Is that what you are saying? Wouldn't the carpet collect moisture in damp and winter weather? You did give me some great things to think about tho, using the wain cot a third of the way up or so might be just give that area some life, along with painting suggested from another person. thanks so much

The paneling itself can be the wainscoting. Just add molding as a chair rail. Paint the lower part one color and the top another color. I also don't understand the carpet remnant idea.

    Paint Paneling

Make sure the paneling is clean and dry. Prime with a good stain blocking primer like Kilz or BIN. Then paint like painting regular walls. If the paneling has grooves you can fill them with non shrink drywall patching compound. Just put on enough to fill the grooves. Let it dry overnight. Next day use a damp sponge to smooth the patch. Then prime and paint.

Thanks William, Like that idea of painting bottom one color and top the other, with a chair rail molding idea to divide the two. That would look really nice, and very budget friendly. Not sure if I am patient enough to fill the spaces with drywall, might just have to leave it that way, tho I know the filler would look so much nicer! Thanks so much.

Please post your project here when you decide to do it.

will do, tho will be next spring as it is starting to get too cold to do much painting outside now. Look forward to starting that project, and just as eager to see the finished project. Thanks, and have a good one.
