For the table decorations entry the last week of October I want to share a couple of Thanksgiving tables I have done in the last two years. I am working on this year but it is not quite done yet.

Two years ago I used a variety of small pumpkins on top of a table runner made of burlap. Since this was my first real fall (moved from San Diego to Washington) I am in love with the leaves. So I picked up some large ones and painted them with mod podge. They looked great for this year but didn't last. This year I am pressing them and dipping them in wax. We'll see next year how they hold up.

I purchased a sign that said "Count your blessings" and put it in the center of the table.

I painted off white chargers with chalk paint. Then I was able to write each person's name on the plate in chalk. For the silverware and napkins I took a small paper bag, cut it in half and decorated them. The napkins and each place setting of silver for each person fit nicely inside the sacks which I tied with twine.

Last year I used a green and white palette with green chargers and white plates. I found cloth napkins at Pier one which had wording on them. They say things like thankful and gratitude.

In the center I pulled various sizes of pumpkins on green and white with greenery and pinecones.

Have a blessed Thanksgiving

The decorations are so nice but where is room on the table for the turkey and veggies?

With a table arrangement like this will you tell me where you place the bowls and plates of food. I have always wondered about those. They look fantastic but what about the food you’re going to serve?

I think it is wonderful that you go the extra mile to set a beautiful table, and to change it up every year. We always serve buffet style, and my mother started "stove-et" (rhymes with buffet) years ago for family dinners. Serving most dishes out of the cookware on the stove cut down on the clean up and the food stayed hot. She did use serving dishes for dinner parties, but our family was more interested in her wonderful food than how it was served. Your tablescapes are lovely, and I'm guessing the rest of your home is, too.
