  • I recommend bringing them inside during freezing weather. I keep mine in the garage.

I was thinking about that - may make a special place under my deck for them and wrap them up really well.

I keep mine in a diy greenhouse that I made.

Anything in pots can potentially be damaged by freezing weather. It can freeze the roots and they will rot and never come back. I had a hosta plant in a huge half wine barrel and it wasn't protection enough to keep the roots from freezing. I have mint plants and strawberries that come back in pots, but little else if left out for the winter. I don't know what your winter is like, but we can reach the minus thirties a few times a season.

Thanks for your response. I am going to cover them really well and hopefully they will come back next year.

You should be ok in North Carolina, I doubt you get as cold as we do in Minnesota. If you know you are going to have a spell of freezing weather, put them in the garage when it is that cold and you should be good.

    Hello,

You could cover them with a fleece if you live in very severe weather areas, otherwise leave to dye back naturally, as they should return next year, when you could remove last years dead growth. Hope that helps1
