Typically tomatoes are planted in spring, not fall. But with the wacky weather we have it couldn't hurt to try, but don't be disappointed if they die at first freeze. My tomatoes woke up from summer heat and started setting fruit again, so I will still be picking tomatoes at Thanksgiving.
If you want to try indoors, get a grow light. Then no weather worries.
