You can plant in any container you wish. I favor clay or glazed ceramic. They breathe better. Also better suited to my hot climate.
You can plant them in anything but it must have good drainage. Mix a lot of perlite into soil or buy cactus potting soil. There should be a drainage hole if possible or,in a glass container, use pebbles at the bottom, add just enough soil for roots to form--they don't need more than 2-3 inches. But make sure when you water that you only use enough to moisten the dirt, about every two weeks once they've rooted. You don't want your succulents floating!
I have had success in almost any type of container, as long as it is not tooo oversized & that you don't overwater.
