From Kitchen Cupboard to Storage Counter

My hairdresser moved to a new salon and needed a storage counter with some very specific size requirements. An old upper kitchen cabinet from the Habitat Retore was the perfect answer--narrow enough for my client with plenty of storage! Check out all the details on how I transformed this cupboard.
I added a reclaimed wood top--it looks a little uneven in this photo because I took it before I used hubby's muscle to get the last few stubborn screws in.
I painted it with chalk paint.
I added reclaimed oak paneling to the backside of the cupboard.
A shelf was created on the bottom open part of the cupboard with a piece of playwood and quarter round trim.
Big, chunky metal handles and hooks give it an industrial feel.
Three shelves inside the end cupboards provide plenty of storage,
I added locking casters. The piece fit perfectly in the new salon and I got two "free" cut and colors out of the trade!
