Update a Wreath With Mushrooms

For me, fall means mushrooms. I love walking through the woods and seeing all of the amazing varieties and colors of fungi in nature.

So when it came time to decorate for fall, I turned to those mushrooms for inspiration to create a wreath.

This project is really easy, but also really cute: my favorite kind of project!

I started with a pre-made wreath that I already owned.

Then I bought some wooden knobs. These are inexpensive and easy to find at hardware stores.

I used a hole punch to make tiny circles from some scrap vinyl. (Small round stickers would work as well.)

Place the stickers on the knobs randomly. I wanted to vary the placement and amount of stickers for each mushroom.

Be sure to press the vinyl down well.

Then I used craft paint to paint the tops of the mushroom. It took 2 coats of paint for good coverage.

Peel the vinyl off of the mushroom knobs to reveal spots!

Wrap pieces of wire around each mushroom stem, leaving 3-4" tails. Then wrap the wire around the wreath, securing it in the back by twisting the wire.

For the bow, I tied the ribbon and slid a piece of wire through the knot. Then it was also wrapped around the wreath to secure it.

Use a wreath hanger to hang it on your door. Isn't it cute?
